WARSAW, WYOMING COUNTY, NY
The "Warsaw Cemetery" is located on both sides of South Main Street (Route 19) in the Village and Town of Warsaw. As shown on the aerial map linked below, four parcels of land essentially comprise the "Warsaw Cemetery." The "Pioneer Cemetery" is the oldest part of the "Warsaw Cemetery" and covers about two acres on the east side of South Main Street. About five acres nearly opposite the "Pioneer Cemetery" on the west side of South Main Street were added in 1850. A third tract adjoins the "Pioneer Cemetery" on its south side and is delineated by a vertical dotted line on the aerial map. The fourth parcel is located south of the former caretaker's home. It should be noted that "St. Michael's Cemetery" adjoins the "Warsaw Cemetery" on the east side of South Main.*Local Resident Sally Smith has uploaded readings from many grave markers and obituaries to the website "Find A Grave.Com". The Wyoming County Historian’s Office created a database which includes the names, burial dates and lot numbers of approximately 7,000 graves in the Warsaw Cemetery. The data were compiled using the records of the former Warsaw Cemetery Caretaker, John Webb and the late Harry S. Douglas. Readings from the gravestones and obituaries were furnished by local resident *Sally Smith.Steps to find a grave.Warsaw Historical Society *Volunteers are in the process of updating the database to include death dates and other information. Look for a name and find the lot number as well as the location, whether on the east or west side of the cemetery. Then note the section. The section is indicated by alphabetical letters such as g.
